The Lady Gaga Eras
2008 - The Fame Era
Tracklist & Music Videos:
The Fame
Money Honey
Starstruck (Ft. Flo Rida & Space Cowboy)
Boys Boys Boys
Paper Gangsta
Brown Eyes
I Like It Rough
Summerboy
Disco Heaven
Gaga’s style during this period is all about her iconic “Hair Bow”, her blonde bangs and sunglasses and her “Disco Stick” which is referenced in the song Love Game. She’s heavily influenced by David Bowie and 80’s synth and disco dance music.
2009 - Fame Monster Era
Tracklist & Music Videos:
Monster
Speechless
Dance In The Dark
So Happy I Could Die
Teeth
The 3 music videos she made during this era are some of my most favourites. These videos are referenced in some of her newest music and to understand Gaga is to know all of the little details of these videos. Bad Romance is when she started doing the “monster claw” hand that became the name of her fan base - “little monsters”. The cigarette glasses and coke can hair rollers in the Telephone music video are SO iconic and Bad Romance is one of the most watched youtube music videos of ALL TIME! Insane.
This was her first time ever performing on an awards show. I still remember watching this live!
2009 - Born This Way Era (My Favourite)!
Tracklist & Music Videos:
Government Hooker
Americano
Hair
SchieBe
Bloody Mary
Bad Kids
Highway Unicorn
Heavy Metal Lover
Electric Chapel
Every song, and I mean EVERY song on this album is amazing. Still some of my all time favourites of hers. Like Bad Romance and Alejandro, you will see Gaga reference Born This Way and the style of that music video a lot over the course of her career. I dressed up in two separate costumes for Halloween during this era. One referencing the skeleton outfit from the BTW video and the other as one of her looks from the Judas music video. Ha!
This performance is still one of her most talked about. She arrived to the Grammy’s inside of tis egg (they carried her down the red carpet inside of it) and she said she lived in it for 3 days before the show. Was that true? We will never know.
2013 - Artpop Era
This was a WHACKY Era. Gaga was heavily influenced by a lot of performance artists during this time and combining art with music. A lot of people say now she was ahead of her time as this album has had a bit of a recent resurgence. She was experimenting a lot with her own versions of performance art. Shortly after this album came out she met Tony Bennett and kicked off her Jazz career, which was a big 180 from this era. She often says Tony saved her.
2016 - Joanne Era
Tracklist & Music Videos
Diamond Heart
A-Yo
Joanne
Dancin’ in Circles
Sinner’s Prayer
Come to Mama
Hey Girl
Angel Down
Grigio Girls
Just Another Day
While this album is probably my least favourite she’s ever done, there are still a lot of great songs on here. A very different style for her, more stripped down, less dance-pop. The album was named after her late Aunt. She also released a documentary during this time on Netflix (called Five Foot Two) about the making of this album and it explored her struggles with fibromyalgia. Something she still struggles with.
During this era Gaga performed at the Superbowl Halftime show which is a MUST watch if you’ve never seen it!
2020 - Chromatica Era
Tracklist & Music Videos:
Chromatica I
Alice
Free Woman
Fun Tonight
Chromatica II
Plastic Doll
Sour Candy
Enigma
Replay
Chromatica III
Sine from Above
1000 Doves
Babylon
If you want to get a taste of a Lady Gaga concert, I highly recommend watching the Chromatica Ball on HBO. The last tour Gaga did before her latest album was released. I listened to this album SO much during the pandemic and it was the only tour Gaga ever did that I was not able to attend.
2025 - Mayhem Era
Listen to MAYHEM on Spotify
Tracklist & Music Videos:
Garden of Eden
Perfect Celebrity
Vanish Into You
Killah
Zombieboy
Lovedrug
How Bad Do U Want Me
Don’t Call Tonight
Shadow Of a Man
The Beast
Blade of Grass
Die With A Smile
I’ll say it. I think this is the BEST music video she has ever done. She references all of her best hits with the styling and choreography here. I see Bad Romance, Alejandro, Born This Way and so many more all beautifully referenced in this masterpiece. I cannot wait to hear this song live!!
THE JAZZ ERA with Tony Bennett
I couldn’t leave out some of Gaga’s Jazz Era content! Although she won’t be performing any of this when we see her, please enjoy some of my favourite performances of hers. Her range is so incredible, pop, dance, rock, country, classical & jazz. The Lady can do it all!
